In this lecture Steve Salembier talks about the essential elements in his transdisciplinary practice, the narrative and representation of space through image, object and sounds. His works navigates in between performance and installative art and appropriates different media ranging from architecture and scenography to photography, video & music. Steve Salembier is not uniquely interested in creating images, sounds or experiences, but rather in the “machinery” behind it, in exposing the process and the protocols by which a spatial experience comes into being. In his work it is therefore not so much the artist himself but rather the audience which brings a final meaning to the work. In this lecture Steve will present a series of projects and hereby excavate comprehensively the views, methods and practice behind it.
